Just cut blocks of foam to the proper size and shape, stack them, and glue them in. Sure it's more work, but also more customizable, more cushioned, and less likely to get your foot/ankle caught in. That's what I've done in all my boats.
I was thinking of doing that, I just got a boat (my first). But, I heard (well read) that foam doesn't give as much support, can start to shift, and can warp your bow. Are these things true?
Also, if someone can tell me want tools and common techniques are used to shape the foam I would really appreciate it.
