FWIW ...

Some of you may have heard about the ongoing battles between the Squamish Lillooet Regional District & Ledcor, the energy developer that wants to construct a run-of-the-river micro-hydro operation on the Ashlu R. in BC .. The problem extends far beyond the Ashlu & is indicative of a systemic political weakness that promotes grabbing ankle & letting US corporations privatize Canadian resources at the expense of evironmental, recreational & local social concerns.

Losing the Ashlu to micro-hydro development would be a huge tragedy, but like I said, it's only one of the threatened waterways, so I think that the more people that are educated about the overarching political challenges, the better ...
