Blue river below Green Mtn Dam

I see there is lots of runoff pouring into Dillon Res, and that they are not letting much out to Green Mtn Res. Does anyone have info as to when/if the cfs will rise below green Mtn Dam? Also tried to email Kara Lamb, no response, is she still the info person on this? Do you know the phone number that we can call posted by the gate at the top of the dam? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

I don't expect releases to start from Dillon or Green Mountain until after natural flows have dropped off. Reservoir levels are still low, so they won't send water downstream until there is a call for it.

Kara is still the one who knows all the details.

My understanding is that Green Mountain and Dillon are with holding the max water until well into the season. I wouldn't plan on running anything on the Blue until Fall.

Historically Green Mountain Res is storage for late season irrigation calls. It usually runs in sept and oct. the Blue river drainage is much like the Fraser none of the water makes the state line except on big years.

I would expect to see flows come up in a few weeks when the reservoirs are full.

Green Mtn

Hi all,
I was out sick on Friday, so if I missed an e-mail, my apologies. Also, my direct e-mail is [email protected].

Meanwhile, we are continuing to release between 60-70 cfs from Green Mountain to the Lower Blue. We declared our "start of fill" on April 1 and have been storing ever since.

We will probably go until mid-July before we see a significant change in the fill and release pattern at Green Mountain. Mid-July is typically the time frame when we see demands for Green Mountain water come on and we start upping releases.

Meanwhile, for what it's worth, I saw a report on Friday that estimated the snow pack in the Blue River Basin had dropped to 56% for this time of year.

As always, let me know if you have additional questions. I'll answer what I can!

Best,
Kara
