Big T (in colorado!)

Good afternoon, everyone,

As the warm weather continues, we went ahead and increased releases again from Olympus Dam on Lake Estes to the lower Big Thompson River. At 2 p.m. today, we added another 145 cfs to the release for a total flow at the top of the canyon of around 945 cfs.

If you are interested in tracking stream flow around the region and the state, I've posted some of those links at the bottom of our main webpage.

As always, please feel free to e-mail or call with additional questions.

Best,
Kara

Marties, I'm in as well, I could swing a day time lap Thursday...

BTW, check out the guage for SSV, its going off

Detail Graph

I don't think the left hand diversion is going to be able to keep up much longer, either, so the SSV proper should be adding more to the flow...time for the ssv naysayers to come get some mank

udpate

Hey all,
After I sent that yesterday, we got word from the State that the Colorado-Big Thompson Project's junior east slope water rights would come into priority today. As a result, this morning (June 7) we cut releases from the dam by 40 cfs.

It's only 905 cfs this morning coming out of Olympus Dam.

Best,
Kara

Another adjustment

Hi again,
Late tonight/early tomorrow (6-8-11) morning around 2 a.m., we'll cut releases from Olympus Dam to the Big Thompson some more. Sounds like we're going to drop them to around 780 cfs.

We have more east slope water rights coming into play, so we're pulling that native water from Estes and running it through our power plants before sending it on to Horsetooth.

Let me know if you have any related questions.
Best,
Kara
