Big South Flow Update

Talked to the long draw guys. They are planning on bumping the flow by about 50 cfs coming out of long draw starting friday. They noted that long draw is spilling right now and when they go to releases, its takes them multiple iterations to get the flow right as the res stops spilling and all the water starts going through the release gets. Expect somewhat variable flows on friday as they dial it in, and expect flows to be set on saturday, and continue in that range for the next 10 days.

My guess is that the big south will be on low, but still good.

111 current release + 50cfs + source = >161 cfs

Sounds like Peterson lake hike is best bet to avoid breaking boats.

depends on the what the rock says when you get there and mank tolerance. I still like the upper stuff even at low water. The middle stuff drages out. Peterson lake through spencer is always good too.

Although the top of the run is certainly too low for high-water-sickos like Tango, it's actually still really good for paddlers looking for a Big South Light experience. Weird Creek is still okay for scraping in, for those that don't mind dealing with boat abuse. Otherwise, I recommend the hike-in on Corral Creek to skip Weird Creek, and still run the upper drops. The upper drops channel nicely.

With the Peterson Lake hike-in, and you still end up paddling most of the in-between flat section, which requires the most patience at these flows.

Yes, it's low. And it's still one of the coolest rivers in the state.

I'm looking to paddle Big South Sat/Sun, camping out Sat night. Looking to hook up with folks I've paddled with before to run it. If you paddling Big South this weekend, hit me up.

this.

minus the hike in at Peterson.

Hike down the corral creek and put on. It puts you about 1/2 a mile above starter fluid, good to go from there.

Uh oh, how does fat boy know all this....

buck up fuckers, next season I'll be good enough to get your boat back.

Holding Steady - 1 WEEK LEFT TO GET IT

Evan and I ran lower half yesterday... the gold far outweighs the mank factor... no change to wood.

One week left to get it before they shut-er-down.
