April rivers

Early or late April? Depending on snow pack, the Salt River Wilderness experience. Perhaps late April (May be too Early), but maybe the Owyhee, Jarbridge, and Bruneau rivers of southwestern Idaho.

Yes. There are also lots of other options within a few hours. Cal salmon, Trinity, scott, Chetco, Illinois, Rogue, Upper and lower K, to name a few. It all depends when the melt and rain happen. Not much snow pack but April will still have options.

Smith river is mainly rain fed. Middle fork will be running in mid April. N fork will run if there is any rain. Check out the s fork gorge too. It has the same take out as the middle fork.

Northern ca is probably a good bet this year in mid April even with low snowpack. The smith is not too far from the cal salmon, Scott, trinity. If you have 2 weeks you could also possibly do the m fork feather, giant gap, and maybe something in the yuba drainage. These all run pretty reliably in the springtime.

If there is no water in central ca, you could head up to southern Oregon.

You have 2 weeks off in the springtime, and you would use that time to paddle Class 3 run (that has water year round) with 70 miles of flat water, during the most windy time of the year?
