We have been running stone bridge to rincon and badger for years in open canoe's with air bags for years. This year the water is a little higher and we got our buts kicked. We don't want to raft, as we like more control and thrill. Any other suggestions? We have been using Coleman Ram 15' canoes. Is there some inflatable, or a better canoe for 2 people?

Sounds like R-2

For day-trip thrills without too many swims, an R-2 boat would probably serve best: Shredder, Hyside PaddleCat, or Jack's Culebra (jpwinc.com). Main problem is that you need two paddlers, a problem when you want to do a float alone (imagine a 4-ft wide canoe).

A tandem duckie can be paddled by one, no sweat.

I just built a rowing frame for an old Shredder so it could be soloed, or used for fishing day-trips (with a seat frame over the spray deck).

At least you have interesting choices.
