Beginner looking to run Brown's Canyon

I've been kayaking for about a year now and I'm looking to run Brown's Canyon this weekend. I live in Denver and can meet at the put in. I'll bring the beer. Let me know if you are interested. Call, reply to the post or PM.

You might want to say what else you have done, etc.

There should be more than enough people there to run with this weekend. It is fibark so the valley will be so full of boaters you will have a hard time not taking the run with people.

Have fun!

CKS in Buena Vista will be pretty busy, and is another spot to find boating partners at. Check out the river park down the street to. Good spot for a warm up. The 2nd wave is a great friendly surfer now.

at 2000 cfs, I hope you have a decent roll and brace. Or a nice thick wetsuit and solid helmet.

Lol Brown's is awesome for a beginner. We brought my friend who decided not to kayak it and swam the whole thing with a boogie board (not a river board) and flippers for her first time down it. It was around 2500 and she cleaned everything...of course when your already swimming...anyway it was sweet, she laughed the whole time and it was a super fun trip. I ran it before I had a roll several times and as long as you can swim its fun.

At this level browns is still game on, it is definitely not a beginner run despite what you might hear. I would recommend that you paddle fractions from elephant rock down to buena vista first and see how it goes. Fractions is definitely a step up but not quite on the same level as browns it is a good solid 3 to 3+ at this level. If you feel confident after that browns is the next step.

It's a really fun run, but I wouldn't run it at this level without a good roll or you'll be very frustrated and tired.
