Always seemed it should be easy to hook up with a bike rider that wanted a nice long training ride (and get paid).

At Canon City its pretty easy to find high school kids with that need gas money at the park/takeout. Often I hitchhike, but no in Canon City.

I've used them several times this year, $40-50 around Salida, more for downriver. Shuttle sucks, paying for shuttle sucks, doing your own shuttle sucks, having a good friend/spouse do your shuttle for you sucks less, shuttle sucks, I guess.

I've lurked on and off here for about 5 years, and I have to say, hitching is free, and only adds about ~1 hour on average based on my experience. If time is of the essense, by all means prearrange a paid shuttler, but you will meet more cool people hitchhiking, imo.

Never had an issue w/the thumb shuttle there. The Plop & Pray usually works.

Previous shuttle remarks were CLASSIC! hitching gets old fast - keep on schedule, hit the camp or bar, stay on track

spiderguide: you got old fast, where you now are on some sort of schedule. It seems you forgot the point of getting on the water. Do w/e you need to I suppose...

Foamboy; 'classic' was an agreement with mr spade hackles comment, but you can take my comments personal on a boaters forum...and spend as much time as you like hitching and meeting new boaters..I will be at the bar consuming cold beverages while you do your thing I suppose"
