Anyone get touched by a bear at Gates?

I've heard about this bear since last year. I guess the bear kept coming to Pot creek camps since last year and got accustomed to people. I launched May 1st this year and Dave (the ranger at put in) warned us about the bear sighting this year again and close to put in area as well.

I am launching tomorrow morning on Lodore again and will see if I can dig up some more info from him.

Just got off Lodore. The putin ranger was very adamant about keeping a clean camp due to bear problems, both at the putin camp and down river. He didn't want so much as a beer can or toothbrush left out. Our trip spotted a mom and two cubs about a mile below Pot Creek, and tracks and bear scat in Whirlpool Canyon just above Jones Hole, so they are definitely out there.

Ben, how were the bugs on Lodore?

Lots of box elder bugs, but they are harmless. Didn't really have many biting bugs. Watch for snakes when hiking.
