Hey we are thinking of running it this Sun. - Mon. and taking out at the lower take-out (without the hike-a-raft takeout). We've never done it, so I have no good info for you. Any input on where/how to get to the lower take-out would be great since it doesn't say in CRC. Anything to be aware of below the regular take-out? Thanks!

I ran Northgate last year at 2000 CFS and it was a Kick! We took out at 6 Mile Gap and it really sucked! The trip was worth it but I was also wondering about going to the next take out. I would love to run an overnighter this weekend but I would not be able to get up there until 5 or so on Saturday! If anyone is willing to run an overnighter that late in the afternoon let me know!

are you talking about the pickaroon or the prospect creek take out? prospect is a serious 4wd road not to be taken lightly. puts gunny gorge's chukar trail put in to shame. a couple very long, steep spots where 4 Low is mandatory. a good rain could easily sink you for getting out.

no help on pickaroon cuz it's such a damn long shuttle.

below 6 mile is just easy class II stuff here and there.

The shuttle company in Saratoga told we the road into Pickaroon/ Hell Hole is pretty bad right now. She won't go down there, doesn't mean you can't try. The best options are 10 miles to Six mile or 40ish miles to Bennet Peak.

The flat stuff will go fast at 2500cfs. You can have a really nice 2 nights out if you put in at Routt and camp at Deadwater Creek area and then above Bennett Creek and take out at Treasure Island. It makes for a day of flat water but great scenery. Routt to Bennett would be really doable with two full days on the river at this level.

The hump down to the river from 6 mile isn’t too bad but yeah not run the fun stuff!

Hopefully it can hold on until next weekend!

There ain't no next take-out. For day trips, Six Mile is it.

rsmiller's program is a good one for an enjoyable trip. One wrinkle is to shuttle the camping gear and such down to Six Mile, run Northgate with light boats, then carry the overnight stuff down the trail and camp below.

Me & Leeloo just ran it. She got sorta violent when I tried to get her into a drysuit, and I guess she got chilled.

Maybe even hypothermic.

Does hypothermia make you glow sort of greenish around the edges?
