Any TEACHERS out there? Youth leaders??

My name is Brett Hochmuth and I am the founder/executive director of G.O.A.L.S. - a non-profit organization that provides opportunities for outdoor/experiential education via multi-day river trips.

The motivation to create G.O.A.L.S. ("Get Outside And Learn Something") came after organizing 5-day Desolation Canyon trips for the 8th graders that I teach...time after time I see more meaningful long-term growth in my students during 5 days in the canyon than I do during 180 days in the classroom. They apply curricular lessons learned throughout their school years in several subjects, but also gain a great deal of confidence in themselves and their classmates while finding comfort in a remote wilderness setting. To gain an understanding of what kids in G.O.A.L.S. programs get to experience, please take time to view the slide shows I've just put together from a series of river trips in May- they are online at Clear Creek Middle School Outdoor Education or Clear Creek Middle School 8th Grade Outdoor Education.

2011 promises to be a very exciting year for G.O.A.L.S., as the commercial outfitters with whom we've partnered are offering us more than 25 permits in Desolation, Cataract, Westwater, and Ruby/Horesethief to fill with groups from schools, rec centers, or any other youth organization (available dates are online at G.O.A.L.S. - Get Outside and Learn Something)

If you're interested in utilizing one of these permit dates and sharing your passion for the river or the great outdoors in general with the next generation of environmental stewards, please contact me as soon as possible- brett at goals4youth dot org. I'll happily come and host an informational parent meeting- describing the costs, inclusions, and benefits of participation in a G.O.A.L.S. program, and as long as your group size contains at least 10 kids, your program costs nothing.

Please visit G.O.A.L.S. - Get Outside and Learn Something to learn more about what we do and why we're doing it, then contact me if you'd like to be a part of the movement growing behind this great organization!

I have passed this information on to a couple of Summit/Park county teachers. Thank you.

Great- thanks very much! If you'd like to send me their email addresses, we're getting ready to send an email to a large group of Colorado/Utah teachers in order to recruit groups for our 2011 permits.
