any one know of any camping near vegas

I will be in vegas for a weekend soon and the hotel situation is not looking good. Anyone know of a place to camp somewhat close, but out of the city? Also, I may bring my boat and try to hit a quick run on the way out there and back. I know about shoshone, but want to run something different. Anything running along this route? Thanks.

there's camping out near red rocks - a blm campground i think.

Probably a lot easier to find a hotel. I have always had good luck at either the Texas Station or Fiesta. They usually have nice (Texas) to decent (Fiesta) in the $30 to $40 a night range. Maybe just say you heard that you could get a room for that price from someone who recommended you. Seems like they are really flexible in what they charge.

Not a big Vegas person, I just was out there for work an entire summer.

I've found Lake Mead a decent place to camp. Try Boulder Beach or Las Vegas Bay.
