Any Donation centers for old gear?

New year, new gear. Can anyone recommend some of the boating schools or donation outlets for some of my older gear? None of it is junk, but it would be more of a hassle to post it all on here for $30-$40 bucks a piece. Instead I would like to donate it to a legitimate school or organization. Any suggestions?

I can't think of a better cause. Check with them and see if they want what you got.

Thanks, I will contact them. I remember seeing this site before but had forgotten about it. JM

Another Option

While I agree that the above cause is probably better than a private school... I know the Dawson School in Longmont/Lafayette will take gear and give you a tax write off.

Grand Youth Adventures

Grand Youth Adventures is a non profit group that works with middle school kids, boys and girls. During the winter they work in the pool teaching them their rolls, then take them on the river throughout the summer, including several overnights, and ending up with a fall river trip. The last three years they did the Salmon. GYA is based in Grand county (Winter Park) Jim Sylvestri is the main contact at (970) 531-0516. I'm sure they would appreciate any donations.

Boulder Outdoor Center will take your donated gear and give it to kids in their summer kayak camp.

their web site is www.boc123.com

They will give you an in-store discount if you donate your old gear there.

Their goal of having the "kayaks for kids" program is to help new boaters get into the sport without spending a lot of money to do it.
