Another dam bites the dust

Here's a breach of a dam right in my backyard, a dam that hold back a major superfund sight. Pretty exciting. No, incredibly exciting!

Kevin Colburn and Brandon Jackston of American Whitewater filmed the
breach on Friday and Saturday (March 28-29, 200 from the bluff
overlooking the Milltown Reservoir.
If you share this, please be sure and give American Whitewater the
credit they deserve. Thanks!

Along with local and national press coverage, the breach also made the
news in China.

Sure is great to see them let it flow and get that mess cleaned up. Graduated from U of M and use to spend some time jumping off the railroad bridge just up river on he Blackfoot.

If I'm thinking of the right bridge (right next to the highway 200 bridge connecting Milltown and bonner), you can't do that anymore now that the reservoir is gone. They are having to shore up and/or rebuild the bridges that spanned that part of the Blackfoot, since they are now in a river channel instead of reservoir. Both the 2 freeway bridges and the Hwy 200 bridge. It's been really neat watching this work, cool how much of an engineering feat it takes to pull it all off, way cooler than the engineering feat of building a bridge.

I think we're even going to get a bit of a whitewater park out of the restoration, but I'm not 100% sure.

Why would anyone hold you back? That falls looked like a cool little drop. You could lap it all day and it would be different every time.

At first it would be awesome then it got small. Only fear would be to be at the lip then a huge chunk goes off. kinda spooky but also really cool to think of. like kayaking a land slide At one point it even looked like a mini main event color and all

Thats what I'm sayin! There had to be a reason the paddlers weren't all scrambling for gear the instant that thing formed. Machine guns. That has to be it.
