Just in from the Park.
We are writing to let you know that two lotteries will be open for the next week, one for canceled 2007 dates and the other for canceled 2008 dates.
Both of these lotteries will accept applications through the lottery website from October 19th, 2007 through noon on October 24th, 2007.
The 2007 follow-up lottery includes a total of 5 launch dates which are for standard size groups (1 to 16 people):
November 2007: 19th, 30th
December 2007: 18th, 25th, and 26th
The 2008 follow-up lottery includes a total of 11 launch dates which are for standard size groups (1 to 16 people):
January 2008: 1st, 12th, 14th, 15th, 21st, and 24th
March 2008: 5th
November 2008: 6th and 8th
December 2008: 13th and 22nd
Note, quite a few of these dates were won by applicants in the previous lottery who immediately canceled before paying their deposits. While these people did not lose any money aside of the lottery fee, they did have their chances reset to 1. CHANCES ARE RESET TO 1 IF YOU WIN (whether or not you end up going on the trip). Chance are not reset if you lose.
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU REALLY WANT THE LAUNCH BEFORE YOU APPLY! Once an
applicant wins, they cannot change their list of potential alternate trip leaders (PATLs), so if you do choose to apply, we encourage you to LIST AT LEAST ON PATL ON YOUR LOTTERY APPLICATION.

Individuals are eligible to apply in one or both lotteries as long as they are at least 18 years old and not already members of other noncommercial or commercial trips launching in the same calendar year as the desired launch date. No person may be listed on more than 1 application within any year's lottery. The lottery drawings will take place in the afternoon of October 24th, and email notifications will be sent by October 25th.
