BAD ASS ! It always surprises me how little response there usually is to these type of threads.I think modern day explorers like Kurt Casey, Rocky Contos, Greg Schwendinger, etc.,are every bit as impressive at their niche in the whitewater world as the young guys running super gnarly falls and big water classics.Total respect for the young dude's skill and balls, but how many paddlers can do that? You can explore stuff with more modest skills as long as you are a competent /fit advanced boater with a sense of adventure.

Thanks Cayo. Lots of ways to explore.

I'm 41 and the amount of gradient is being replaced with a new kind of kayaking. I still creek but enjoy exploring new runs like what Kurt's done.
Writing the article was inspirational. What a great guy.

Keep Kayaking.

Kurt is an awesome guy and a great kayaker. He has always been looking for new runs. Back in the early nineties he was pushing the limits on the Zambezi, running Rapid zero under the falls and dropping the huge pour over in number 5, long before the Z was a kayaking Mecca. We all thought he was nuts!

exploration and guides

Mukung,
It's great to hear more and more stories of exploration.
Chile and Peru whitewater have greatly benefitted from Kurt's online guidebooks. When I don't know a run I go to those sites or call Kurt.
I hope one day to get on a first descent with him.
Keep Kayaking.
