2nd/3rd week of May Beta for Idaho/Oregon/Norcal Cl III/IV

Looking for Beta for Class III/IV between Salt Lake and Portland along I-84 and then anything south from there semi-close to the coast all the way down to Big Sur.

The wife and I are taking a paddling/mtb'ing/climbing/surfing road trip for 3 weeks this May. Would much prefer something that is shuttle-able by bike. Huge pluses for scenic beauty or low consequence intro to waterfalls type drops.

In this order:

Payette
Upper then lower Deschutes
Celestial (your easy waterfall)
White Salmon
East Fork Lewis (more easy waterfalls)
Clackamas
Smith River
Cal Salmon
Trinity

Most of these rivers have several sections with varying difficulty. Look them up and chose what looks good. Have fun.

Celestial is not an "easy" waterfall and it certainly isn't low consequence.

EF Lewis has two low consequence waterfalls.
Canyon Creek is next door and is Class 4ish at lower water.
Middle White Salmon has Husum falls which is the first waterfall many boaters run.
Clackamas is wonderful scenery and will have big waves, Class 3-4 in the spring.
WF Hood is a great, beautiful Class 3-4 run in the spring if it has enough water.

All of these can be a bike shuttle without too much trouble.

Unlikely to be anything going on the coast unless it is raining. If it is, try Jordan Cr. or the Wilson and lots of other good options in the north and middle coast of Oregon.

Other options depending on whether you want to travel south down Willamette Valley before heading to the coast. Two of the highlights being Opal Cr. and Breitenbush.

Awesome, thanks for the beta. Definitely going to hit EF Lewis, WF Hood, White Salmon, and maybe the clackamas. Any beta on anything in northern california or around yosemite?

Thanks
Nick

The Smith River drainage is classic stuff. Lots to choose from and other things to do in area. If you want to push it a bit, Cal-Salmon is also classic. Nordheimer and Butler section possible although both solid 4 or higher depending on outlook.
