Due to the construction on 29 road you can only access the bridge from Orchard Mesa. From Downtown GJ head south on 5th street and go over the 5th street bridge towards Orchard Mesa. You are now on HWY 50, continue on this road. You will pass City Market on your left and the fairgrounds on your right. Continue on until you come to the intercetion of 29 road. Take a left and continue north. You will then pass over 29 road bridge.

At this point Iam not sure which side of the road to park on. I have only kayaked through it from Corn Lake. I am curious if anyone knows wether or not it is private property?

Hope this helps. Next time I go kayaking I'll let you know in case your interested.

Try going down Unaweep (which is also C rd.) to a street called Rocky Pitch and back onto C rd. heading east & just past Okagagwa Farms is a seldom used cul de sac at 2899 C rd. You may be able to walk straight down the hill to the river from there with a kayak.

It seems like there were some new waves formed after this year's high water visible from the northbound lane and upstream of the bridge. Are these what you are referring to?

Regardless, does anyone have a definite on the access besides putting in miles upstream?

I'm new to town and might try to hit up these 29rd waves this evening. I'd really like to meet some paddlers in town, maybe coordinate a fall westwater trip or something as well. If anyone wants to paddle let me know via here or give me a shout: (307) 871-6562.
