PacifiCorp (Idaho power/water regulators) has recently updated and released its list of Boater Flow Release dates for the spring 2013 season for the Black Canyon of the Bear.
All of the releases will be at least a full Sat/Sun weekend, with one 3-day release planned in late April, which includes a planned RACE and PARTY.
Here are the dates:
April 26/27/28 **The race and party are planned for the 27th. See 2nd link.
I know it's a bit of a drive for most Buzz readers, but all of the release dates are pretty much before a lot of CO stuff really starts running, and/or you just might want to hit it up on the beginning of a trip to ID or the Northwest. Being able to run it two days in a row definitely makes it worth a longer drive.

Link to info about the race and party, with a link to some great pics of the action at Grace Falls, Boo Boo, and the takeout party from 2010.
Flows are guaranteed to be 900cfs or better (if inflow exceeds that), which is good fun. There's decent camping at the takeout and elsewhere, and a great little hotsprings town about 25 miles away (Lava).
If you're itching for some good early spring paddling, come check out what AW and Idaho Rivers negotiated for the paddling community. The more boaters that use these releases, the more likely it is we will be able to keep paddling the Bear on a schedule. It's a worthy run, come check it out.
