10.5' RMR Storm. Me and a buddy who's kayaked that run 100x. He's confident we can do it, but it sounds tight. Anyone want to chime in? Is this a terrible idea? Edit: found a video of a Minimax doing it. Those look a little slimmer but are about the same size. Game on!

Is there any wood? What gets much harder at 500 cfs?

There's a log directly above Deer Creek. It extends diagonally from river right, 3/4 away across the river. You can miss it on the left, but it's a bit hard to see from above until you're almost on it. You can see the root ball, go left of it.

Bailey's water level is rising fast, passing 240 this evening. Any word on what's in store 9/7 and 9/8 for Baileyfest 2019?
  5. Lost & Found
I lost my paddle on Bailey last year and it has been sighted on river left near the steeps. Its a werner skykomish paddle green blades and there is a reward for its safe return. Be safe out there.
  6. Lost & Found
Hey someone found my werner paddle below S turns on Bailey. It has green topo map blades. It is on the bank, I think the left side. Reward for its safe return home to me.

Went for a run Friday before the fest. We stopped on the flat rock below Deer Creek and above Mystery Eddy to lay on the warm rocks in the sun. I forgot that I took out my custom ear plugs and might have fallen on the beach there. Did anyone find them?

Can anyone tell me what flows I can get a crew of 12' RMR Phat Cat paddle cats down Bailey? Hoping to do to Bailey Fest in 'em and maybe beforehand as well. We've got 321cfs right now, video scouting on youtube looks good. Any thoughts would be helpful.

Heads up on the tree that has been hanging above Deer Creek for at least the past year. This tree is significantly closer to the water between my runs of July 22 and yesterday, August 20, 2017. It was easy to avoid in July, but hit my head on the branches with my helmet. It's right above the...

So this can be a bit of a bummer time of year -many of our favorite creeks have dried up like the career prospects of a 35 year old raft guide and our rivers have gone from burly to almost boring. In about a month: -Crested Butte boaters will be downright sick of mountain biking and jonesing...

She's up! Time to get out there before the tunnel inevitably drops. I can be there by 3PM. Hit me up if you want to paddle. Ian 303-907-1373

There is large tree in the river just below Four Falls and prior to the big boulder. It is not an issue at low flows, but will become one. Take a look. The tree that is well above Deer Creek in a narrow part of the canyon that we used to duck under on river right has fallen into the river...

If you lost a GoPro on Bailey during Bailey Fest 2016, I found it on April 23, 2017. If you recognize yourself in this image, then let me know and I'll try to get your camera back to you. The case was damaged, but the camera is intact.

While we all wish that this warm dry Spring would give way to another round of powder days and snowpack accumulation, a silver lining to all this is that odds are looking decent for BaileyFest. So keep August 11th-13th on your calendar for what is sure to be a great late-season paddling party...
