Another option for serious consideration is a Micro Four Thirds camera. They're about the same size as a G10, but shoot at faster fps and give you the option of changing lenses.
Panasonic and Olympus make them. I'm sure other manufacturers will be releasing models soon...
P.S. If you plan on shooting from your boat at all, you might as well go with a Pelican case. You'll get tired of using a dry bag really fast. Even a watershed bag (you'll still nedd padding inside that bag).
PPS. If you do go with a Pelican, you can use tin cans to cut the foam to fit lenses perfectly. Just saw off the end of the can then use that to saw a hole in the foam (by twisting the can).
