American Whitewater		Founded in 1954, American Whitewater is a national non-profit organization (Non-profit # 23-7083760) with a mission “to conserve and restore America's whitewater resources and to enhance opportunities to enjoy them safely.” American Whitewater is a membership organization representing a broad diversity of individual whitewater enthusiasts, river conservationists, and more than 100 local paddling club affiliates across America. The organization is the primary advocate for the preservation and protection of whitewater resources throughout the United States, and connects the interests of human-powered recreational river users with ecological and science-based data to achieve the goals within its mission.

Avon Whitewater Park		Whether you are a seasoned paddler or a curious sightseer, Avon’s Whitewater Park offers an exhilarating and fun freestyle kayaking experience. Located just blocks south of the town center, directly under “Bob the Bridge” on Avon Road. The Park offers a spectator viewing terrace and large flat boulders along the river’s edge for seating. In keeping with the humor of the name of the bridge that hovers above the park, the three water features are aptly named, Baby Bob, Bob Jr., and Bob Sr. Whitewater Park offers beginning, intermediate, and advanced paddling opportunities. The Avon Recreation Center offers kayak lessons and water safety instruction at its indoor pool.

Backdoor Sports		Backdoor Sports has been providing Steamboat Springs’ backcountry enthusiasts with the gear they need since 1986. We specialize in telemark skiing, kayaking, climbing and camping. We introduce new kayakers to whitewater, teach paddling technique, promote and teach whitewater safety, and support racing and freestyle kayak competitions. In addition, our mission is to inform the public about river access, conservation, and other general issues concerning rivers and wilderness, while working to resolve problems related to those issues.

First Descents		First Descents is committed to curing young adults of the emotional effects of cancer and empowering them to regain control of their lives by experiencing whitewater kayaking and other challenging adventure sports in a safe, fun and supportive environment. First Descents became a non-profit organization in 2000 by founder and professional kayaker Brad Ludden at age 18. Since then we have served over 600 young adults with cancer. First Descents started with one camp in Vail, CO in 2001 with 14 participants and has now grown to 9 programs in 6 different states serving over 140 young adults this past summer. With so many young adults being diagnosed each year in the USA we feel an obligation to continue to grow and offer these programs to more young adults in need. With continued fundraising support and volunteer dedication, we’re confident that we will expand to serve thousands.

Junior Kayak League		The Junior Kayak League is a great way for kids and teens to get involved in kayaking. It provides a fun after-school and summer activity that promotes friendship, fitness, outdoor education, leadership, and just enjoying the river. We offer great continuous kayaking programs for kids and teens throughout the year as well as hosting summer camps and international trips.

Lyons Outdoor Games		Created in 2003 as the Lyons Whitewater Festival, an excuse for paddling buddies from around the country to come together for a day of play in the famed Lyons Whitewater park, the Lyons Outdoor Games has grown into a world class celebration of mountain sports featuring kayaking, MTB/BMX, 5k race, The Burning Can Beer Festival, live music, food, kids agility course, yard games and even dog events. In addition to competitions for all skill levels the Games will offer numerous clinics and exhibitions put on by some of the world's most elite professional athletes. With such a myriad of activities the 2012 Lyons Outdoor Games promises to offer something for every outdoor enthusiast.
