    I ran a 9 ft. mini-me in the Grand a few years ago. Only one flip (24 and one half) and one ejection (Lava) Lava is the only one that you will need more luck than skill. I used water jugs in the front to balance the boat plus personal gear. You want to be slightly heavy in the front. Move around to keep balanced and avoid the worst stuff. You can move a small boat much easier than a large one .
