This really is a nice mellow float. In mid-summer I'd make sure to rig an umbrella for shade and get a fairly early start on day two as the wind may blow upriver a bit at the end. The Black Rocks area is not at all difficult in a raft. The river narrows and meanders between some large house size rocks. A raft will just float right through with a little correction to stay in the current. There is some "weird" water in there with some very strong eddy lines and boils and small 2' diameter whirlpools that appear, seemingly, at random. Beginners & children in duckies or canoes would have my attention. I wouldn't recommend swimming through it, especially without a pfd.

    Enjoy your trip.
