    Hey Carvedog,
I'm hoping to pick your brain and get a little info. I pulled a July 24th launch on the MFS. I haven't done the Middle since '85 and that was many years and many beers ago. If you would be willing to exchange a few PMs I would really appreciate the help. I don't want to intrude, but if you're up for a few questions about flow and appropriate boat(Aire Jag) etc... Just reply with an OK. Otherwise, Have great day!

    Hey Carvedog,
Seems you are on top of these things! Selway, currently running at 4.2 feet according to the West Fork Ranger, little less than 10,000 cfs at Lowell. Seems that is a good flow for rafts. Wondering why folks are bailing this week and cancelling permits. We did it years ago ('93?) and had a shit show when a thunderstorm took it from 4.5 - 6 ft overnight as we hit the canyon stretch. Hence some trepidation but 4.2 for the last 4 days, no spike with all the rain/snow we have had these last few days seems to indicate that the main melt off has gone. I grabbed a cancellation for next Tuesday, hoping I'm not insane. Thoughts?
    Thanks v. much,

    Wendy

It was river wide, we cut it out completely. It was below new creek, but that's not ready important now. I'm sure things will change as the water rises. Kayak probe with radios is easy.

    Hi CarveDog,

Not sure if the previous message (below) got lost in the ether, but I was hoping you'd be able to pass along some advice for my upcoming MFS trip camp selection.
We're likely to bag our plans for the Lochsa as it would require us to take off the MF a day earlier.

    Hi Jerry,

    Thanks for the planning assistance.

We're keeping the party size down to ten in order to maximize our river days given we're driving from western Oregon.
Even so, we'll still likely have eight boats, so space for parking is a consideration.
Some camps we've really enjoyed on past trips include Lower Grouse, Woolard, and Elk Bar.
On an early season 2005 trip we had Stoddard for a camp - the panel of rock art was outstanding, but that landing was pretty chalenging.
Wilson Creek and Parrot Placer recall good (but hazy) memories.
A couple camps that I've unsuccessfully targetted previously are Joe Bump and Pungo.

    Thaks a lot,
    Jerry
