Drive about 1 mile past "Broken Rib Creek" trail head on CR 140 (Deep Creek Road) and then scramble down about a mile to the falls. Walk out on Broken Rib trailhead. FYI, 2 more falls 3 miles downstream of Broken Rib.

Stay out!! Unless you have two years of free time to dedicate to cleaning this log infested mess of a creek!! The falls in the photo may or may not be runnable but there are two huge logs in it, one of which is sticking out of the drop. It looks to land on a shelf as well.

bummer, how much of the canyon did you get a peek at? wood notwithstanding, is the geology conducive to a good run?

The falls could be run, probably not by me. For me, the 4 foot horizontal shelf about 4 feet down curtain was the deal breaker. High/late afternoon water would probably hide it better.

We paddled down less than half a mile of sustained class V, through a mini-gorge, before the first and last wood portage of our day. I had wanted to run about 4 miles and hike back to broken rib and out. Our team suffered a life-threatening trauma approaching the put in. We pretty much went into survival mode at that point and focused on getting everyone home.

I will rope boats down from now on. Steep scree fields can be deadly.

Somebody should go get it done! The hike in is easy. The hike out is tough.
