Safety reminder

Runoff is here. Please remember to wear your safety equipment. Wear it even if you are park and surfing. You never know who will see you or what can happen.

Wearing your safety equipment will not only keep you safe. It will also keep beginners who see you on the water safe as well. Always wear the basic safety gear... Helmet, PFD, shoes and don't forget to dress for the water temp! You are an ambassador for the sport so when newbies see you on the water they see you in proper gear.

If you have any question on proper gear let me know.

You would think this would be common knowledge, yet we were called to swift water rescue yesterday, three fisherman on the Fork, by Aspen Glen, no life vest and boat got caught on a river wide tree.
To say they were lucky is an understatement.

Wear your PFD at all times.

People just think that won't happen to me... I don't need to wear that on this section...

Agreed!!!! I might look goofy with rescue vest, salamander throw, helmet, knee/shin guards, wet suit or dry suit, and leash. I would rather have it and not need it!!!

We helped a family of four on the Lower C today... super sketchy. All novices with no safety gear on with the exception of a PFD. Every one of them ended up in the river and were not dressed for the water temp. All self rescued but the dad who we helped to shore. Everyone was ok aside from freezing their arses off.

A needed reminder, Alex. Too many are lacking when it comes to basic paddling safety practices.
