There is a guy who runs in the Gore race every year, his name is Gary Pera. He has a company based in Aspen that takes people on the Roaring Fork. Real nice guy. Apparently they run slaughterhouse, woody creek, and pine creek, numbers, and fractions on the Ark with commercial clients. Oh, and they call it sledging. Kinda like they call rappelling abseiling.

that's river boarding. you stand up on a paddleboard and use a long canoe paddle like thing. more similar to striding but on a modified surfboard and not a duckie or thrillseeker.

laird hamilton style im guessing. i think if you knew how to paddle it would be funner to paddle but if your on a long boring strech a board could be fun? surf about anything if its long enough.

I saw Paul Teft from Aspen at the gore takeout getting ready to put on pumphouse with a paddleboard rig. He had the long blades, and noted that he cut down the skeg on the bottom of the board so it wouldn't hang up in shallow sections. He was running pumphouse with his kids and said that paddleboarding made easy stuff a new challenge and he could do it with his kids.

I've never tried it but having been on a surf board in the ocean, I bet its tough.

I started this summer along with Matt. Ran Shoshone a couple of times before it got to cold. Also paddled it down the USNWC course in the fall. It is a ton of fun. I grew up surfing before moving to Colorado and taking up kayaking. Stand up paddle boarding is a pretty cool niche between the two. Kayakers/paddlers pick it up fast as knowing how to brace is key. I put up a photo in the play gallery of a recent flatwater run on the Colorado above the dam. I think it is a sport that will take off. Its really fun.

These guys had this at Outdoor Retailer a couple weeks ago. You dont even need a river. looks like a pretty sweet dryland workout.
