docwolfj - have you been a kayaker/rafter before moving into SUP boarding? If so Pumphouse to Radium is where I started and recommend, it's fun, challenging and has tons of wave trains and eddies to practice catching.

If you can't read water definitely go with a guide first or take a river class so you can tell the difference between waves and rocks.
