I like how his backboard is used to increase the carrying capacity. I might try that sometime.

Used Kayak & Gear: $1200

Somebody needs to tell the seller that kayaks just don't hold their value, especially when they're discontinued models:

Pyranaha Whitewater kayak, paddle and gear.

Not as bad as you think.

Ha ha this is not a good deal and everything together is only worth $625 tops and I probably wouldn't even pay that.

Dagger Juice 7.1 $250
AT paddle $150
Spray top $50
Spray skirt $75
2 shitty helmets $50
Gloves $25
Drybag $25
Forgot the PFD $75

Edit: So $700 ideal seeking price. I'm sure you can get it all for $600 after it sits on there a month.

Funny how much people think things are worth. Even funnier how much some people will pay. When I first make an offer on something on craigslist I only offer 50% and usually walk away with it for about 60% of what they were asking most of the time less.

IMO when you buy a boat brand new as soon as you take it out of the store and use it once it's only worth 75-80% of retail value. Boat out of warranty 60-75% of retail and it goes down from there.

Recently I just picked up 3 rpms. All in excellent shape. They were all for sale for $250-$300 each on craigslist. I let them sit a month and got all 3 for $450. That's just a little over what you can pick up ONE RPM in the SE for....

I can't disagree with anything you said, sounds like you buy a lot more kayaks than I do. I have bought most of my Jacksons new and not really looking to sell any anytime soon. I also agree that boats sell for more in the SE, last couple trips out west I have came back with boats from adds here on the Buzz. I bought a New Jackson 2013 DD tandem back in 2012 for about 1700.00 including shipping and a few freebies and sold it the next year for 1200.00 so your math is probably pretty close.

Bama,

I couldn't believe how much boats sell for down there! Nobody wants to paddle old plastic here in CO. Most of my pricing is just because I've been looking for a greenboat for awhile. So I'm always checking Craig's and the forums looking for a deal. So I see what comes and goes. The problem is being near the deal.

True, what you need to do is find someone with a sponsorship deal who gets new boats every year and has plenty of almost new boats to get rid of.
