I haven't been shopping boats much, and I've never shopped a Maxxon, but this seems a little high...

Udisco --$2600

Show Ad - NRS Community

UDISCO 14ft. Raft & accessories - Seattle, WA, USA $2,600.00
14ft UDISCO raft & frame with cross bars, seat, drop in cooler slot, oar locks, 2 Carlisle oars & 2 spares, life vests, cylinder pump & smaller hand pump.

I think Udiscos were 4 or $500 new, and haven't been made for probably 30 years. They were an ok design, just a little thin.

I would never pay $10k for a used boat. Maybe if it was new, I was rich, and I didn't care about paying full retail for used stuff. Totally agree that the fishing frames are considered to be silver-plated, filled with mojo, and blessed by Yvon Chouinard and Lefty Kreh.

Like this one - http://www.washingtonflyfishing.com/...g-frame.97480/. I wouldn't nominate it for a worst deal out there, but I don't consider it a good deal either. New this might be about $6000 ($4700 for the boat, $1300 for the frame). 25% off a 5 year old set up isn't a good deal to me.

Keep in mind that retail prices go up each year between 3-5% for the rafts and other components, so it's very possible the seller is asking the same amount or even more than he paid 5 years ago. An outfitter 10-20% less than retail for their raft/gear so often times they're selling it for more than they ever paid for it, though likely for less than they have to pay for a replacement.

If only vehicles, kayaks, and other gear depreciated as slowly as rafts.....

I'm note sure if the old man comes with the cat, nor am I sure if the old man would increase or decrease the value.
