When to retire frame straps

When do folks decide to retire (or rather replace) frame straps? I would imagine (actually know) that much of the wear comes from UV exposure so for this example let's assume western desert rivers. How many days/years until you decide it's time to pull the trigger on a new set?

info: straps are 1.5" hw polypro and the are strapping a raft frame

shoot, I've got straps on my cat that are probably almost 15 years old. (still good) but I store my cat in doors when not in use. so little to no UV exposure while stored, it sees most of it's UV when in use which is 2 - 3 multi day trips a year, and 6 - 10 day trips a year. I haven't yet retired them. I have one strap from the same batch that I use to keep a gate closed on my property, it's been exposed 24X7 for at least the last 5 years and doesn't appear to have taken much of a hit from UV (it's a black 2' strap for what it's worth.)
