Cool. Pay 150 bucks, then put some tape on it.

I think you'll end up "needing" at least 3, A 6" Carlson, A decent electric, and a K pump.

No one needs three pumps, but it sure makes things easier. I did some research last night and thinking back from memory, I have heard of issues here and there from all barrel pumps, except for Carlson. If you end up getting a smaller boat or a cat and want a small pump that's simple to use and can easily go down the river with you, then a K pump would be a great choice down the road(I have a K100 and it's excellent). For now, for your 16 ft boat, I would only feel confident in recommending a 4 or 6 inch Carlson. And unless you can get a 4 inch for a way better deal or storage space will be an issue...get the 6 inch.

The 4 inch is small enough that the kids can use it.

I have the 5" Nrs and works well. We use for inflating air mattresses also. I found a nice used one once for my buddy for $50. I think you can buy all the replacement parts for cheap and I was thinking of buying parts and building my own but where to get 5" abs?

Also works great for stoking the campfire

I've had an electric pump that hooks to the car battery and wonder pump for years. I have inflated boats entirely using the wondering pump. The key to that is a couple beers and lots of patience. Finally upraded to a NRS 5 inch. Haven't had it out yet though. So, now we have three pumps covering pretty much all occasions.
