my come to jesus moment for going to a SB was as a high water, big water trip as a gear hauler/support boat with a couple miles of near continuous whitewater and no passenger to bail or eddies to catch. every rapid that thing turned into a bigger and bigger pig to maneuver with water up to my knees at the end. that boat handled heavy gear hauling like a dream until you added a couple K's in water, for certain.
for your actual question, i'd go hyside bucket (or SB). with avon out of the new boat picture these days, they are tough to beat. i had a 16fter that was ~18 years old and still looked nearly new when i finally downsized abit. no patches. just bulletproof. i'll be going to them in the next season or two for a new one. i guess by the time that next boat is worn out then so will I in my old age decrepitude.
