I have a couple old thwarts from an old riken boat that I use,I sliced one end off from each and now they are dry bags I just put a contractors bag in them, plus they are practically bombproof being made from the killer old riken rubber

Old dry bags. One for cans and recyclables, another for trash. I use the crappy ones my ex girlfriends have bought that are trustworthy enough to hold trash but not much of anything else.

Rocket box with a contractor strength garbage bag. I keep a piece of plywood with 1" holes drilled in it to pack it down. The plywood is the same dimensions as the rocket box, so it slides down, horizontally, into the rocket box to pack that trash down. This reduces the risk of cutting your feets. We burn all paper and all SMASHED cans go into a mesh bag specific for that purpose. Haven't run out of space on any multi-day trips.
