Paul7,
Here are the pics of my trailer. Aluminum decks that can be raised another 12". That way I can fit a lot more gear underneath. Tailgate folds down for access as well as a small side door. Lots of tied own points/steps to climb up.

Thanks you! I really like that trailer! Few questions is it a custom build or did you start with a utility trailer? What's the box dimensions? How about the aluminum did you source that or is it also custom from scratch?

Damn fine trailer. Only question I have is why are the 2 diamond plate mud things on the front only like 4 inches wide? Why wouldn't you make it wider or even the entire width of the front?

Andy, have you had a chance to try out the v strap to pull your boat up over the tailboard yet?

Pirate,
They are about 10 inches wide. The kid that did the welding, bought the diamond plate sheet that wide. I was so happy with everything else I didn't care! I got this trailer with my used raft 2 years ago. The trailer started out as a box trailer with the same setup. Instead of aluminum it had plywood decks that were covered with deck paint. There was no extruded metal sides. The sides were open but had some plywood bolted on so my oars wouldn't fall out on the road. Decks only had one height not two. There was no winch and the tongue was 5' shorter. It's pretty sweet now but I think I might have to cut the winch off and move it forward 1' or 2'. I just bought a new Maravia on Friday at Cascade's Spring Thaw.
Curtis I haven't had a chance to do the V-strap yet. I have my old Diablo in getting the floor patched and some foot cups added.

Two questions what's the size of the box and where did you get the aluminum? I'm wanting to do something similar but haven't settled on a size of trailer for my 15' boat.

Paul,
The box is 64" X 124". The decks are 26"X 124". The decks are made of 2"X 1" aluminum tube. From outside edge to outside edge it's 87".
I ordered the aluminum from a local metal supply shop here in Boise.
