I don't know how, but I always manage to finish my beers before they get warm. And if a rapid interrupts my drinking, my old Lotus PFD has a pocket in the front that holds a beer, with a nylon flap that keeps the splashes out.

This thread is going along swimmingly.

I certainly wouldn't want to derail it.

However, does anyone know haw much alcohol and for how long is needed to sterilize some pee'd in stream frequented by river runners.

Think worst case.

Think about those drink cover flaps.

+1. From long experience this works just fine.

However, the march of technology requires rethinking the problem. And keep in mind, the best solution for rafting generally calls for multitasking;

And for the more highly evolved enthusiast;

And for those who run permitted rivers a bit informally;

The solution to pollution is dilution....plus wouldn't the alcohol already in the perpetrators body sterilize the pee stream, just thinking out loud here...

I do it like Gringo but with 3" PVC. I cut 2 slits with a Dremmel Tool across from each other near the bottom and run the strap that fastens my dancefloors down through them. I put one at each corner of the rig for passengers.
I did the same with one of those plastic Koozies that looks like a trout with a can in it's mouth. That one gets lots of comments.

Here is mine. Thats a bottle from work secured to a strap. You see the duct tape. I wrapped the tape a little tight causing an indentation in the bottle. It serves to hold the coozie in nice and snug. And the strap allows me to move it around. A little redneck but so am I.

an answer to your concerns, I can verify they keep river water out...unless your beer takes a swim, then no gaurantees.

Pee is sterile straight from the source, its the stuff from around the corner you don't want in your beer.

For those of you with a Yeti, they have a sweet new drink holder although it's not cheap. I bought one and am pretty happy with it. Feels very strong and should serve its purpose well!
