SO - what do you think? Is the versatility of the Sawtooth trailer worth the deck height???? It is high, I looked at them. What about moving the Sawtooth around by hand, not bad? What would you do?

Thanks, I'm really stuck on this.

Matt
Trailer is high, see my earlier post. I can very easily move it around from garage to street by hand.

Unfortunately its per person. It pays for his gas and hotel... which makes sense.

They sent me with a temporary tag to the CO State Hgwy Patrol office where I had to have a VIN inspection (took 5 minutes but here in C Springs they only do it once a week on Weds and you need an appointment, so plan ahead), then it was back to the DMV office where I got a small metal VIN number plate to put on my trailer, and eventually, after several meetings b/w various supervisors in the office, my tags and registration. Expect to pay all local, county, and sales taxes so you might think ahead (I didn't) and have a discussion with Randy about price on bill of sale.

Note that the DMV temporary tag is only good for a short while, can't remember but maybe 10 days?, so don't get it until you have the VIN inspection scheduled.

PS. Ditto Randy is great to work with. Good trailer too.
Great info... thanks for sharing as I was trying to figure out what to do.

Locks?

Can anyone who has this trailer tell me what kind of coupler lock will it take and what types you use?

Will it work with a Trimax SXTC1 (7/8" span) or a Trimax SXTC2 (2.5" span)?

I just got mine delivered. Its fantastic... of all the trailers I have looked at, these Sawtooth trailers are the best I have seen. Best quality you can get for your money.

The thing that sucks though is it requires a VIN inspection to register it in CO. Have to take it to a Colorado State Patrol office and make an appointment. Earliest time I can get is early August which really stinks. The DMV will only give you a 3 day temp pass and they tell you that you need it for the inspection if you want to drive it. So this seems like bad legislation if they can't get you a VIN inspection for a long time - chicken/egg problem.

Had the sheriff (Routt) do mine, would think that Jeffco sheriff could do it.
I could have gone with local PD but they said it would be a couple weeks. I think I also filled out the "statement of a homemade trailer"
FYI, my sawtooth receipt did not work as bill of sale.
It's a pain but your trailer is totally worth it!! I made three trips to the dmv
Cheers

Jeffco Sheriff (if that's where you live) have been great to me with this sort of thing. VIN verification at my house in about a day or less.

Ok... this is really good to know... The JeffCo substation in Evergreen is across the hall from the DMV. I guess its worth a shot... all they can say is "No" I guess

Friends are already trying to get me on the river with the trailer... this sucks!

Was this for a trailer? A call to the JeffCo sheriff said if its a VIN inspection (not certification... bit difference - i.e. home made trailer or trailer from out f state w/oa VIN) requires only those facilities from here:
