San Jan & Sat phones

Good news is San Juan flows are fantastic and should stay good for a late June launch my group has. Bad news is something has come up at work that I need to be able to communicate with my boss on. Good news is that he is ok with me going if I can be reached. Anyone have experience with the various sat phone networks on the San Juan - who has good coverage?

Lots of threads on who has best coverage, but I am hoping someone has experience specifically on San Juan.

You can get cell reception around bluff, reception at the top of stair master. In lower canyon I haven't tried it, but I'm sure up the honaker.

Mex hat also has reception - especially when you are in sight of the tower off on the ridge at river left.

Just to clarify, I'm looking for Intel on Satellite phone reception in the canyon. I'd like to be able to make calls from wherever. There seem to be two main providers (Globalstar & Iridium). Looking for experience with one or the other in the San Juan canyon.

Spot Phone

Our Spot Phone with "Shitty" global star coverage worked great on the lower san juan. Service for calls normally lasted 2-10 min. Cheers
