Mowgli- Seat height seems to be fine. I'm 6'1" and the 10" towers seem to be perfect. After looking at a few pics from the maiden voyage, I maybe should have gone with 6" longer oars to get a little more depth, but it did great and rowed like a champ so no complaints.

I can't wait to take her out again and tinker a little with the setup.....once I get my shins all healed up from those boxes jumping out at me in camp.
I rowed from a flip seat bracket on my cataraft, but I'm trying out rowing from the dry box alone on the raft. I row without a passenger mostly, so my set-up is kind of backwards, with the gear pile, small dry box, and cooler in front of me. (see attached picture) It makes it easy to exit onto shore from the bow (behind me). A seat would get in the way. I kept the seat bracket just in case I want to go back to it though. My rafting buddy has two rafts and two cats with various ages (10+ years) of Recretec frames and the lock in dry boxes. He loves them. Never had an injury from the handles or hardware. 10+ years of pure dumb luck I suppose

I mostly sit on the end of the seat when I'm rowing, but really like having a high back chair to lean back against when I'm not rowing, napping, or drinking a beer.

Dfresh- thanks for using the word "douche". I could think of nothing more inappropriately appropriate.

I liked the seat on my cat for those same reasons. I also liked feeling more "locked in" in bigger rapids. It did hinder high-siding a little bit though. Trade-offs....we shall see how it goes on the Main Salmon next week.

Don't sweat the grumpy people! Maybe orto11 needs to slow down on the beer to keep from stumbling into his dry boxes in camp. I have to admit the handles on my boxes caught my eye, and I will be rigging to protect from getting slashed. But that's part of rigging a raft, right? Try to cover all the pointy/hard/sharp spots. Got to keep it cushy for my bow flower. Glad to hear the seat is working for you. I have a similar set up from Dusty and I'm getting it in the water this weekend for it's first run. The seat feels high as I'm 5'11" on my best day. I'll be using a hung floor to keep the weight on the tubes and I'm hoping that feels right with the high saddle. I have to say Dusty was great to work with and really produces a sweet rig! I'm psyched!! I've been following this thread and I'll finally be adding pics next week.

What's the center cleat on the rower floor for? A third box of some kind? Nice work!

Oops......day cooler. I see that now.
