I have been frame shopping pretty hard in the last couple days with my new found time off. It looks like a Tri Fecta The front and back of the frame look like that new Canyon Whitewater Inflatables one, The middle of the frame looks like a Madcatr and the towers look like Madcatr and the DRL version of them with the angle. I do have to say it is more impressive than the DRL frames I have seen for a homebuilt. How much do you think that project costs and how much time is involved? There is a lot of borrowing designs from the big builders I am thinking something original would be cool, but I don't have the builder skills so I will be purchasing mine!

Nice work. New to cats so bear with me. What is the purpose of the bent bar in the back? It looks like an upside down foot support. From the pictures it looks like it would prvent, or make difficult, using the back bay for loading gear.

Slick design,
What holds your seat and towers down?
Are those aluminum conduit unions on your oar tower pivots?
Again very nice work, thanks for sharing.

Thanks all for the positive feedback. To answer a couple of Q's, aluminum pipe cost involved is probably around two hundred bucks including wasted scrap. Time is near to forty hours, although this frame was the test mule for a new hydraulic bender and software. The oar towers will be held in place with common hasp lynch pins, the pivot bars are indeed held by three piece steel unions (good eye knucklenuts). The seat is to be held down with 4 cam straps, have used this identical setup for two years on my last frame with great success in big water. As for the front foot bar and rear drop rail support, I was pretty bummed when my friend told me that canyon just released a frame that looked similar to the one in my shop. I can say with honesty that I had never seen theirs before i had already built this one. There are only so many ways to skin a cat I guess (pun intended). This was intended as a minimalist day trip only frame for my wife. If she decides to use it on the salmon or other multiday trip it will probably receive a rear cargo floor and a rear module to haul goodies. Maybe this winter I will have time to make a couple extra frames and sell them to help offset the bender. Any cool suggestions? Never to proud to hear good ideas.

Normal rig on the Smith River, minus the dogs (Damn FWP)

The Hyside has been an AWESOME boat but family and packing habits dictate an increase in size. 13 years of completely trouble free service, including 11 Smith trips, Main Salmon, SF Flathead, NF flathead, John Day and nearly every floatable river mile within 300 miles. She's been the best damn boat a guy could ask for

Got here Friday afternoon, in the water Saturday morning but I forgot my camera and left my phone at home so no pics on the water yet. Can't wait to start logging some miles!

Hey Todd. Sweet frame! Swing that thing by sunshine when its all slicked up and lets go run beartrap or something. She has been on dry land for too long! BTW the frame of mine that you built is awesome and just wanted to say thanks again.
