That sledhooligan has had a busy winter. All sorts of work on his trailer(I wish I had welding skills), and also put together a fine looking decking for his boat!

The floor and beaver tail are 3/4 plywood and the side boards are 5/8.

Thread insert tool.

. . . and what nut insert tool did you use? Are you happy with the results? Nice looking frame and decks. Thanks.

Paint is Royal deck & floor polyurethane alkyd enamel. Not a paint guy so we'll see how it does. Seven coats on every thing and the last two on the decks have anti skid mixed in.
The nut insert tool is from NAPA I think McMaster-Carr has them too. They work like a pop rivet. The schedule 40 pipe is about the max thickness you can use. They work well probably the fourth frame I've used them on. Definitely a learning curve on them. After drilling the hole use a counter sink bit to de-bur the hole. Also use a scrap piece of pipe a do a couple of practices. The first time I used the tool I broke the 1/4 mandrel after the fourth nut pulling it to hard.

Day trip set-up

We like day trips on the Rouge River. Camping is done at Indian Mary park in the RV, so no roughing it. No pooping in a bucket, and hauling it out, or cold morning baths in the river.

With that said, I designed a Cat frame so my wife (and sometimes another couple) can lay out and enjoy the rays while I do all the work. The ice chest can either go behind the front bench, or I relocate it behind my seat and a drop in padded platform goes in it's place.

It's a sweet set-up for day floats
