Poverty Boating: Cartop carrier alternative

Has anyone tried using a car top drybag as an alternative/addition to drop net-cargo net?

Stern mount it, shove a bunch of chepo stuff sacks in it rather than individual, expensive dry bags and use the integrated straps to hold it down.

A 15 cubic foot bag can be had for around $70 and the reviews tout water proof performance in driving rain at highway speeds. Might breech a little if it suffers a prolonged flip but one would think it to be a better containment system than a cargo net.

What say you Buzzards?

Difficult shape for bow or stern, but it could work nicely in the center bay of a rear frame setup.

Now one has to be size wise on matching car and boat.
