This is the worst. Thank god I boated around some of the original raft owners in Ca. and drinking is the way it went. Watched Dan Buck( Trib) use a rock as his pillow and nothing else. Bad man. Hell I worked at a super cool joint where we would give u an ice cold beer on a 1 day trip right before u jumped into your car for the drive back to the Bay.
How do u sleep in the dirt every night? drinking
How do u hook up with those hotties from LA that would normally have nothing to do with a guy in my tax bracket? Drinking
How do my friends put up with me and my same old lame stories? Jameson
what is the key ingredient to making large explosions? step 1 case of beer
So please stop... or do not tell me to chill or quiet down or not to have a beer with my breakfast.
Will be a GC this spring and we will have a portable bar set up come by have a drink and have some fun. It is a vacation.
and if u do not like the way the stars look at 3 am then I recommend staying at least 3 mi away from me and my bar!!!!
have a great day... unless u are a hippy

I like Doug Stanhope's thoughts about a sober good time.

I haven't hung around a ton of rafters, but I have hung around quite a few. Either I'm walking in different circles from the people who voted in this poll, or 90% of the respondents are liars.

Rafting rule per my mentor

12 beers per person per day it applies to kids as well but someone else drinks their beer.

2 fold
Gets you drunk and makes the rapids harder...FWTW

I drink, but I do so off the river. Off the mountain. Off the bike. Off the motorcycle.

For what it's worth I will not boat with some of my friends. For them you must drink while boating. I don't want to be there when someone drowns.

In a sport that requires critical thinking and sometimes at a fast pace. Why would you want to be impaired?

We should all be able to self rescue, but how well can you throw a rope drunk? How quick can you set a Z-drag if your drunk? How well can you administer basic first aid drunk? If your in my group your my liability when your drunk.

By not boating with booze you are limiting your exposure to risk. This is a sport that has an expected amount of risk and people do die every year. Why would you allow drugs or alcohol to be a mitigating factor in your overall enjoyment of a safe day on the river?
