Proper and approved safety equipment is a bargan at twice the price. What value would you assign to not taking off the river with everyone you started with. I had on injury on the water last year with all my safety gear on. I would not be here if I had not spent the money and time to get the gear and skills.
Have a safe and fun season.

If you and your crew are wearing equipment not designed for whitewater, every competent whitewater boater you encounter will immediately size you up as being inexperienced, out of your element, and useless in an emergency.
