Do you use or own the Power Pot.
It seems not work as supposed.
I check reviews on Amazon.
In one list, 4 reviews give it 5 stars and 3 reviews give it 1 star.
Diameter of PowerPot is 115mm, a typical thermoelectric chip is 40x40mm.
So PowerPot can hold at most 3 pieces of chip. (By the way who knows the number of chips on PowerPot?)
At most favorable condition one chip can have outlet of 2 Watt.
Theoritically AT MOST Powerpot can give 6 Watt.
Thermometric chip produces electricity by temperature difference.
At cold end of PowerPot, the water can simply reach to boiling point of 100C. This simply gives less temperature difference of 80C compared with air cooling like in BioLite.
Certainly if you can sit beside to throw in ice all the time, PowerPot will work.
Efficiency of thermoelectric is very low. It is only meaningful on a wood stove while you heat your tent all night. Generating electricity is nothing but a byproduct. Anyone shows thermoelectric on a gas stove must be misleading.
I can say PowerPot is something like a lighting match. The temp. it produces is very high. But the thermal energy it produces is neglectable. You can not boil a cup of tea by a piece of match. And you can not charge your smart phone by PowerPot.
I also check sale of BioLite on Amazon.
In one list BioLite gets 281 reviews. average rating is 4.5 stars.
74% for 5 stars, 3% for 1 star and 4% for 2 stars.
So I must learn something from BioLite, but not exact clone.
I will put 10 pieces of thermoelectric chip on a radiator.
You can hang by lead wire (or attach by screw/nut) the radiator BESIDE your wood stove.
At hot side it can reach to 200C, at cold end it will be temp. of your tent,say 10C.
This way I expect a real practical output of 5 to 10 Watt.
Usually you can charge a smart phone by 5 watt for 6 hours.
Also I am thinking to add a stand on the radiator, Then you can put it to face a camping fire.
Also I am thinking to use water cooler to cooling down cold end.
There is water cooler for CPU, the size is same as 40x40mm.
I need only to adhere a CPU water cooler on the cold end of thermoeletric.
All 10 coolers are linked in series.
a 2 Watt submarinable pump will force water to circulate
A big coca bottle, or your big pot will be used as water tank.
It wastes 2watt on pump. But you can simply put it on top of your wood stove. If TEG sits on top of a wood stove, I doubt efficiency of air cooling.
That is why I am thinking water cooling.
