Yeah I have a 15' SL - I did a lot of research, had a lot of discussions with folks and settled on the SL. Best boat I've ever rowed. I doubt the ride is all that much wetter. My bow and stern tubes are 36" off the ground - probably 30" off the water - what's an ST - 38" and 32"??? Interestingly the design has more rise than the ST - that is distance from ground to bottom of tube. The tubes are smaller so the overall kick is a little lower but I seriously doubt you could tell the difference in water entrance - that's mostly about how you hit the hole or wave anyways.... Long story short - I wouldn't consider the wetter ride when making the decision - it's easily the most minor attribute in my opinion.
Load capacity again is fairly minor - sure the ST CAN carry more but do you really need more? Maybe if you do a lot of ELFing - which I do and I'd gladly trade the rockered hull for the weight capacity. I do not pack light and the boat handles perfectly for me with my family of 4, 2 dogs and full self-support gear.
I looked at the zephyr and really liked it but in the end I wanted full rocker and I'm very glad I did. It takes abit of getting used to as it moves differently than a standard boat - it'll definitely slide over more eddy lines, pillows and current changes and once you get it moving over the water you will likely have to stop it. I've spent a lot of time in Aire D series and the SL is far superior IMO. No time in a zephyr or other maravia diminishing boat.
My boat still looks new - it's probably on it's 80th day or so. I wouldn't trade it for anything and the only thing I'd change would be more diminish - down to 17" with 2-3" less kick would be perfect for my uses but it's probably perfect as is for most mixed boaters (I'd just like to loose a little wind resistance when fishing).
Hope that helps - feel free to PM for more details if you'd like. I've got pics all over this site so search and ye shall find if you so desire.
