I haven't checked either of those but I have never seen them renting rafts at a base before( I don't have a huge sampling for that just a few). A few have rented kayaks but not white water ones

Before buying any raft I'd see how many friends or strangers will add you on as a paddler. Get firsthand experience with different boats. Owners love to talk about their pride and joy

Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it "guaranteed", I will. I got spare time.

I just texted Joe at RM Rafts to check this thread.
"Believe me, my young friend, (said the water rat somlemnly), there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. Simply messing...." -The Wind in the Willows

Believe it or not, but some commercial companies will rent out boats as well- especially on weekdays when they aren't using all of them for their trips. Call around. Good luck!

I realy like joe at rm rafts they are good people and stand behind their products. I purchased a 13' saturn from them 2 years ago. I havent had any real problem with my raft just broken valve (i broke it being careless) they were headding through leadville the next day stopped by my house and fixed it. I would highly suggest talking to them. they will treat you right

Thanks for all the suggestions. Unfortunately I am currently in LA until next week so I won't be doing anything in the next few days but I will definitely contact rm rafts when I get back

RM Rafts a good option

I bought one (16ft) of the Rocky Mountain rafts (the ones that RM rafts sells), although I bought it through Ron over at Riverboatworks in Salida, and have been really happy with it so far. We have done a low low water trip on the San Juan where we scraped and scrubbed over every rock imaginable, and the heavy duty floor performed great. Then we took it on a Yampa trip at 20K+ a couple of weeks back and it was very responsive and tracked well. This picture is us coming through the bottom end of Warm Springs. So far I have been really happy with this boat and the price is great for what you get.

We have several different brands for rent in Boulder. We have a 16 foot aire, 14 foot hyside, 12 foot rocky mountain, 13 foot maravia, and a 14 foot saturn. We can apply up to a 2 day rental fee towards the cost of a new raft if you buy one.

Sent you a PM with a POC at Academy Outdoor Adventure Program. He can give you good advice and talk you through what they have to offer. If kayaking ever becomes your interest let me know. We have several members from the academy in our whitewater club.
