Happy with the combination, most likely will never use it but it will be there if needed.
The Maximus vests do have the little hood that covers up the top of the knife, but that doesn't address the handle/bottom which is where my problems have been. Got hooked to the chicken line pretty good once with a Gerber, and the Bearclaw has been knocked out of the sheath re-entering the boat and once by just getting knocked by the oar. Luckily didn't lose it either time, but think I am done with lash tab mounted knives.
Note that the Spyderco blade is scary SHARP. I can run my finger along the Bearclaw with little worry of getting cut...touch the Rescue blade with any pressure and it will draw blood. Might stone off the very tip a bit.
Thanks, I think I am sold on the Centurion, just need to fine some and try on. The jump from M/L to Xl/XXL is strange. I am 43" chest, but want a PFD that hugs well and I know their PFDs are different sized foam pieces corresponding to each jump in size, unlike most brands that just size the straps different. What size chest are you and what size pfd did you go with?
